Eugena "Lou" Ann Stumpf

Eugena A. “Lou” Stumpf, 90, of Kalona, passed from this life on Sunday, June 25, 2023, at the Pleasantview Home in Kalona. A celebration of life will be held Thursday, June 29, 2023, at 10:00 AM at the Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Richmond. Burial will follow at the Holy Trinity Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be held Wednesday, June 28, 2023, from 4 – 7 PM at the Holy Trinity Catholic Church, where a Rosary will be recited at 3:30 PM. A memorial fund has been established for Holy Trinity Catholic Church and the Pleasantview Home Building Fund. The Beatty Peterseim Funeral Home is assisting the family.

Eugena A. (Draker) Stumpf was born March 27, 1933, in Hills, Iowa, the daughter of Arthur and Francis (Kron) Draker. She graduated from Iowa City High in 1950. On July 25, 1951, she was united in marriage to Clifford Stumpf at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Lou worked as a cook for the Mid-Prairie School District for 29 years and was a devoted farm wife.  Lou was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church. She enjoyed playing cards (Hills Euchre), baking cookies (especially buttermilk) and attending and supporting her kids and grandkids’ activities.

Survivors include four children: John (Ginny) Stumpf of Kalona, Ron (Marti) Stumpf of Riverside, Barb (Dave) Simon of Riverside, Becky (Mark) Hurt of Wellman; 11 grandchildren: Megan Larson, Heather Stumpf, Nikki Lichthardt, Melissa Gerot, Lindsey Estupinan, Makenzie Stumpf, Ashlee Rush, Amber Hurt, Brittnee Schneider, Kyle Hurt, and Tom Stumpf; 15 great-grandchildren, and lifelong friend Eileen Yotty.

Preceding Lou in death were her parents, her husband Cliff in 1989, an infant son, granddaughter Brooke Stumpf, great grandson Beckett Gerot; and five siblings: Marie Draker, Elmer Draker, Leonard “Pin” Draker, Lola Jennings, and Donald Draker.

The family would like to thank the Pleasantview Home for their exceptional and compassionate care for Lou this last year.
