Funeral services for Ethyle V. Schultz 91, of Kalona, formerly of Ainsworth will be held Wednesday, October 13, 2010 at 10:30AM at the Beatty Funeral Home in Washington with Pastor Kitch Shatzer officiating. Burial will follow at the Oregon Township Cemetery. Visitation will be held Tuesday, October 12, from noon to 8PM at the Beatty Funeral Home in Washington where the family will greet friends from 6-8PM. A memorial fund has been established for the Ainsworth Opera House and the Ainsworth 1st Responder’s. Ethyle Schultz died Sunday, October 10, 2010 at the Pleasantview Home in Kalona following a lengthy illness.
Ethyle was born on May 24, 1919 in Washington, Iowa the daughter of Carson Wade and Oma Bell (Wilson) Wilson. She attended Pilotsburg Rural School. She was united in marriage to Howard Schultz on February 18, 1941 in the Presbyterian parsonage in Washington. Ethyle was a member of the Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Washington. She was a homemaker and also worked at many restaurants in the Washington and Ainsworth area. Ethyle enjoyed baking, flower gardening, crafts and collecting various items. She was known for her wedding cakes and Halloween donuts.
Survivors include five children and spouses, Duane “Barney’ and Rita Schultz of Ainsworth, IA, Ronnie Schultz of Hedrick, IA, George and Judy Schultz of Ainsworth, IA, Steve and Sally Schultz of Ainsworth, IA, Sharon and Roger Gillis of Ainsworth, IA, 28 grandchildren, 22 and a half great grandchildren, and one sister, Nima McClelland of Washington, IA.
Preceding Ethyle in death were her husband in 1971 and one son, Howard on February 6, 2008, two brothers, Oscar and Walter Wilson, and three sisters, Opal Schantz, Mae Page and Edna Schantz.
