Ethel Virginia Hauenstein, 94 of Wayland, died Friday evening January 21, 2005 at the Washington County Hospital.
Funeral Services will be 1:30 P.M. Tuesday, January 25, 2005 at the Fern Cliff Evangelical Free Church with Rev. Charles Visser officiating. Burial will be at the Eicher Cemetery. Visitation will begin at Noon Monday at the Beatty Funeral Home in Wayland with family present from 5-7:00 P.M. Memorials in the name of Ethel Hauenstein may be designated to the Fern Cliff Evangelical Free Church Sunday School.
Ethel was born June 23, 1910 northwest of Wayland the daughter of Eli and Minnie (Zuhn) Speidel. She graduated from Wayland High School in 1928. On June 27, 1928 she was united in marriage to Willard Hauenstein at Noble.
She was a faithful member of the Fern Cliff Evangelical Free Church. Ethel and her husband farmed in the Wayland area for most of their life. She enjoyed her church, family, reading, cooking and sewing comfort quilts.
Survivors include son Everett Hauenstein and wife Doris of Wayland; two daughters, Donna Rebling and husband Paul of rural Mt. Pleasant and Joyce Kisner of Columbus Junction, IA; sister Helen Shepherd of Wayland; twelve grandchildren, thirty great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Willard December 6, 1989, infant daughter Ruby, four brothers, Lewis, Hayward (Swede), Harry and Harold (Hosky) and three sisters Harrietta, Mary and Emily.
