Emery E. McGuire, 77 of Wayland died Monday evening, February 14, 2005 at his home following declining health.
Funeral Services have been set for 11:00 A.M. Friday, February 18, 2005 at the Cottonwood United Methodist Church west of Wayland with Rev. Nancy Renfro officiating. Burial will be in the Cottonwood Cemetery. Visitation will begin at Noon Thursday at the Beatty Funeral Home in Wayland with family receiving friends from 6-8:00 P.M. in the evening. Memorials in the name of Emery McGuire may be designated to the Cottonwood Cemetery.
Emery was born May 12, 1927 in Wayland, Iowa the son of Max and Bessie (Allred) McGuire. On June 6, 1950 he was united in marriage to Dolores Farmer in Indiana.
He was a member of the Cottonwood United Methodist Church, the Wayland Saddle Club and served two terms on the Wayland City Council. Emery farmed, trucked and worked at the Wapello Sale Barn for thirty-two years. He enjoyed raising and caring for draft horses.
Survivors include his wife Delores of Wayland, son Douglas McGuire and wife Kay of Wayland, daughter Brenda Holley and husband James of Burlington; two brothers Harry McGuire and wife Violet of Olds and Myron McGuire of Mt. Pleasant; sister Meriel Benge of Washington; four grandchildren, Matthew McGuire of Wayland, Monte McGuire of Wayland, Ryan Holley of Burlington and Amy Holley of Burlington.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Roger.
