Elsie Mary Campbell, 72 of Wayland died Monday, April 5, 2004 at the University of Iowa Hospital and Clinics.
Funeral Services have been set for 10:00 A.M. Thursday, April 8, 2004 at the Sugar Creek Mennonite Church south of Wayland with Pastor Nancy Renfro and Don Coffin officiating. Burial will be in the North Hill Cemetery. Visitation will begin at Noon Wednesday at the Beatty Funeral Home in Wayland with family receiving friends from 6-8:00 in the evening. A Memorial in the name of Elsie Mary Campbell has been established to the North Hill Cemetery.
Elsie was born October 2, 1931 in Haskins, IA the daughter of Ben and Pauline (Wingler) Bruegge. She graduated from Washington High School in 1950. On January 21, 1951 she was united in marriage to Walter James Donaldson, he preceded her in death in 1958, she later married Melvin “Barney” H. Campbell November 27, 1965 he preceded her in death October 23, 1997.
She was a member of the Cottonwood United Methodist Church. Elsie worked in her early years at Advance Ross in Washington and later helped with the farm, raising the family and cleaning homes. The last several years she was employed at the Parkview Home in Wayland. She enjoyed reading, painting, sewing Barbie clothes and making quilts.
Survivors include three sons, Larry Donaldson and wife Cheryl of Mt. Pleasant, IA, Ben Campbell and wife Ruth of Silver Springs, MD and Mel Campbell of Burlington, IA; daughter Rita Shull and husband Greg of Mt. Pleasant; three sisters, Ethel Jefferies of Washington, IA, Gertrude Swift and husband Lawrence of Washington, IA and Carolyn Kaufman and husband Le Roy of Wayland, IA; thirteen grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and both husbands.
