Celebration of Life Service Tuesday, January 19, 2010 10:00 AM Fairview Conservative Mennonite Church, 2605 540th St. SW, Kalona Burial: Fairview Cemetery Visitation: Monday 2-8 Family present 2-4 and 6-8 at FAIRVIEW MENNONTE CHURCH Elmer Gee Miller was born November 8, 1927, to Chris H. and Annie (Hochstedler) Miller in rural Johnson County, Iowa. He died Saturday, January 16 at Mercy Hospital due to heart failure. Elmer attended East Lincoln School. He was baptized and a lifetime member of Fairview Conservative Mennonite Church where he served on various committees over his lifetime. On June 6, 1970, he was united in marriage to Alta Kemp, daughter of Benedick and Sarah (Overholt) Kemp. He was a farmer and active in helping his sons with choring and hauling silage until his death. He enjoyed restoring and driving his "Minn-Moe." He also enjoyed his grandchildren. Elmer is survived by his wife Alta of Kalona and three sons, Lowell and wife Dorothy Miller and children; Kali, Hunter and Alexia of rural Iowa City, Merlin Miller of the home, Keith and wife Jannea Miller and children Chase and Nolan of Kalona and one sister Odena Miller of Kalona. He was preceded in death by his parents. A memorial fund for Fairview Mennonite Church has been established in Elmer's memory. The family deeply appreciates the many acts of love, kindness and sympathy during this time of their loss. You will be remembered always.
