Ellen Margriet Van Dyk

Ellen M. Van Dyk, 77, of Kalona, passed away on Friday, December 16, 2022, at the University of Iowa Hospital. She will be cremated, and a memorial service will be held Saturday, January 21, 2023, at 11:00 AM at the Peterseim Funeral Home in Kalona. The family will greet friends from 10:30 - 11:00 AM.  A memorial fund has been established for Hospice of Washington County. The Beatty Peterseim Funeral Home is assisting the family.

Ellen Margriet (Stob) Van Dyk was born August 26, 1945, in Grand Rapids, MI, the daughter of Henry and Hilda (DeGraff) Stob. She graduated from Grand Rapids Christian School and attained her nursing degree in Grand Rapids. In 1967 she was united in marriage to Wesley Van Dyk in Grand Rapids. Ellen worked as a nurse at the Holland Home in New Jersey. After retirement, she and Wes moved to Kalona in 2011. Ellen enjoyed being outdoors, especially flower gardening, watching the hummingbirds, and vacationing on the Jersey shore. She loved spending time with her grandson and politics.

Survivors include two daughters: Amy Van Dyk (Shawn Robertson) of Kalona, Elizabeth Van Dyk (Dennis Delaney) of Kalona, one son Kent Iwema of Arizona, one grandson Lucas Robertson, one brother Dick (Nancy) Stob of Grand Rapids, MI, nephew Michael Schuil and niece Pamela Kosten.

Preceding Ellen in death were her parents, and her husband Wesley.
