Elaine Verlee Miller, 91 of Wayland, died Thursday, April 19, 2018 at Parkview Home in Wayland. Funeral Services have been set for Monday, April 23, 2018 at 11:00 AM at the Wayland Mennonite Church. Burial will follow at North Hill Cemetery. Family visitation will be held from 2-4 on Sunday April 22, and 1 hour prior to the service and following the graveside service at the Wayland Mennonite Church. A memorial fund has been established for Parkview Home and the Wayland Mennonite Church. Beatty Funeral Home is assisting with arrangments.
Verlee was born on March 18, 1927 in Wayland IA, the daughter of Omer H. and Imogene R. (Yount) Roth. Throughout her life she worked at the Wayland State Bank, Yoder hatchery, as a custodian at the Wayland Mennonite Church, and was a co-owner of Roth Hardware store. Verlee enjoyed playing cards, gardening, reading, sewing, quilting, embroidery, and collecting antiques.
Survivors include children, Malcolm (Nancy) Miller of Ames, IA, Meredith Miller of Independence, IA, LuJean (Michael) Bennett of Knoxville, IA, Kimberly (Dan) Sheets of Wayland, Kelly (Greg) Smith of State Center, IA and Tina (Curt) Garrett of Mt. Pleasant, 1 sister Audrey Kauffman of Wayland, IA, 6 grandchildren, and 5 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband Kenneth Miller in 2006, her parents, and granddaughter Jessica (Miller) Clem in 2012.
