Edwin Stauffer

Edwin G. Stauffer, 84 of Wayland, died Monday, November 28, 2011 at his home in Wayland following declining health.
Funeral Services have been set for 10:30 AM Thursday, December 1, 2011 at the Wayland Methodist Church with Pastor Robert Hartzler officiating. Burial will be in the Wayland Cemetery with military honors. Visitation will begin at Noon Wednesday at the Beatty Funeral Home in Washington with family receiving friends from 5-7:00 PM. A memorial fund has been established for the Wayland 1st Responder's and Hospice of Washington County.
Edwin was born April 23, 1927 in Wayland, Iowa the son of Jacob and Bertha (Wenger) Stauffer. He attended Douglas School and served in the US Army during WW II as a teletype operator. He was united in marriage to Louise Hill on February 25, 1953 at the Methodist Church in Mt. Pleasant.
Edwin farmed and was a mail carrier for thirty-one years. He was a fifty year member of the Adoniram Lodge #120 and a fifty year member of the American Legion post #401. He enjoyed spending time with family, the big parties he had for family, traveling, reading and watching sports.
Survivors include his wife Louise of Wayland, five children, Melinda (Dean) Ullery, James (Gina) Stauffer, Marvin (Bobbi) Stauffer, Denise Stauffer (John) and Melvin Stauffer (Kathryn) all of Wayland; thirteen grandchildren; twenty great-grandchildren; two brothers Ervin Stauffer of Washington and Eugene Stauffer of Haslett, MI.
He was preceded in death by his parents, son Jason, sister Rose Swanson; seven brothers Ward, Joseph, Chris, Allen, John, Pete and Jacob Jr.
