Funeral Services for Edna J. Miller, age 53, of Kalona will be Thursday, August 4, 2011 at 9:30 AM at the Leslie Miller home located at 2851 560 th St, Kalona. Burial will be in the Peter Miller cemetery, rural Kalona. Visitation starts Tuesday at 2:00 at the Miller home and will continue all day Wednesday. Minister in charge is Lloyd Hochstedler.
Edna Miller died Sunday, July 31 at the University of Iowa Hospital and Clinics as result of an attack by a bull on the family farm.
Edna J. Miller was born January 15, 1958 in Kalona, the daughter of Jacob and Viola (Yoder) Schlabach. She was united in marriage to Leslie W. Miller on November 27, 1980. The couple lived in the Kokomo, IN and Kalona community after their marriage. She was a member of the Kalona Community Amish Church.
Edna is survived by her husband, Leslie, nine children: Heidi (Sam) Swartzentruber of Kalona, Freeman (Vickie) Miller of Iowa City, Eugene Miller of Kalona, Allen (Fannie) Miller of Kalona, Hannah (Adam) Hershberger of Kinsman, OH, Kevin Miller, Daniel Miller, Rachel Miller and Leslie, Jr Miller all of Kalona. Also surviving are two grandchildren, Zachariah and Karleen Swartzentruber, four sisters, Maryanna Gingerich, Miriam (Lloyd) Hochstedler all of Kalona, Celesta (Harold) Miller of Crofton, KY, Alma (Herbert) Miller of Walhonding, OH, and four brothers Abe Schlabach of Tipton, IA, Edward (Ida) Schlabach, Chris (Elizabeth) Schlabach, and Henry (Fannie Ellen) Schlabach all of Kalona. Other survivors include her mother-in-law, Ruby Miller of Kalona and 68 nieces and nephews.
Preceding Edna in death were her parents, her father-in-law, Alvin Miller, one brother-in-law, Rudy Gingerich and five nieces and nephews.
