Edith Wade

Edith A Wade, 81 of Kalona, formally of Washington died unexpectedly Friday, January 03, 2003 at the Pleasantview Home in Kalona.

Funeral Services have been set for 10:30 A.M. Monday, January 6, 2003 at the Beatty Funeral Home in Washington with the Rev. Mark Young officiating. Burial will be in the Gingerich Cemetery north of Kalona. Visitation will be Sunday, Noon till 6:00 P.M. at the Beatty Funeral Home in Washington with family receiving friends from 2-4:00 P.M. Memorials may be designated to the Alzheimer Association's in the name of Edith A Wade.

Edith was born August 1, 1921 in Kalona, Iowa the daughter of Joe D and Annie P (Yoder) Yoder. She was schooled in Prairedale country school. On December 1, 1943 she was united in marriage to Darrel Duane Wade in Iowa City, IA at the First Methodist Church.

She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Washington, women lions club and the daffy bunch. Edith was employed by Advance Ross for twenty years and was a waitress at several restaurants along with helping her husband farm. She enjoyed collecting cardinals, gardening, traveling, sewing, bluegrass music and was known for good cooking.

Survivors include one son, Gary Wade and wife Shirley of Wayland, IA; three daughters, Rita Schultz and husband Duane of Ainsworth, IA, Kristin Stone and husband Donald of West Branch, IA and Edith Jones and husband Allen of Ainsworth, IA; two brothers Leo Yoder and wife Sylva of Archibald, OH and Willard Yoder and wife Ida of Kalona, IA; two sisters, Edna Swartzendruber and husband Clarence of Kalona, IA and Ollie Page and husband Harry of Midland, MI; one brother in law, Alvin Stoltzfus of Kalona, IA; eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Magdeline Stoltzfus and Mabel Yoder.
