Edith A. Roth, 89 of Wayland, died Thursday, March 27, 2003 at the Henry County Hospital in Mt. Pleasant.
Funeral Services will be 2:00 P.M. Saturday, March 29, 2003 at the Bethel Mennonite Church with Pastor Phil Slabaugh officiating. Burial will be in the Bethel Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 2:00 P.M. Friday at the Bethel Mennonite Church with family receiving friends from 6-8:00 P.M. in the evening. Beatty Funeral Home of Wayland is assisting with the arrangements. Memorials may be designated to the Bethel Mennonite Women’s Sewing Group.
Edith was born September 1, 1913 in Washington, Co. the daughter of Chris E. and Emma (Reschly) Roth.
She graduated from Wayland High School and received her teacher’s certificate from the Iowa State Teachers College in Cedar Falls. Edith was a member of the Bethel Mennonite Church and taught Sunday school there. She taught school for more that forty years at Muscatine, Kalona, Crawfordsville and Wayland, retiring in 1977.
She enjoyed needlework, gardening, bird watching, reading and traveling.
Survivors include two sisters, Marguerite Dare and Ethel Widmer, both of Wayland and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and sister Mabel Conrad.
