Edith Elaine Jones

Edith E. Jones, 85, of Kalona, passed from this life on Friday, May 19, 2023, at Lantern Park Care Center in Coralville. A celebration of her life will be held Thursday, May 25, 2023, at 2:00 PM at the Peterseim Funeral Home in Kalona. The family will greet friends an hour before the service. Following the service, she will be cremated and burial at the Sharon Hill Cemetery will take place at a later date.  A general memorial fund has been established.

Edith Elaine (Rahde) Jones was born July 6, 1937, in Meadow Grove, Nebraska, the daughter of Marcus and Edna A.G. (Schmidt) Rahde. She graduated from Tilden High School in Nebraska. She was united in marriage to Casey Jones in Yankton, South Dakota. Edith worked in production in an egg factory for many years and at Kalona Plastics for seven years before retiring. She enjoyed fishing, collecting Native American dolls and collectibles, and spending time with her family.

Survivors include five children: Ron (Sally) Rahde of North Liberty, Sandra (David) Hatcher of Indiana, Kevin (Hazel) Shafer of Indiana, Shawn E. Jones of Kalona, and Linda (Bill) Kurpewiet of Ewing, Nebraska; a number of grandchildren and great-grandchildren, two sisters: Lisa Reno of Colorado, and Alice Hankee of Idaho; and one brother Leroy Rahde of Norfolk, Nebraska.

Preceding Edith in death were her parents, her husband Casey in 2000, her son Robert S. Palmer, two sisters and one brother.
