Dwain David Johnson, 77 of Washington, died Saturday, July 23, 2005 at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City.

Funeral Services have been set for 10:30 A.M. Wednesday, July 27, 2005 at the Beatty Funeral Home in Washington with Pastor John Monger officiating. Burial will be in the Elm Grove Cemetery. Visitation will begin at Noon Tuesday at the Funeral Home with family receiving friends from 6-8:00 in the evening. Memorials in the name of Dwain Johnson have been designated to the Reformed Presbyterian Church or the Fountain in Central Park.

Dwain was born October 27, 1927 in Moline IL the son of Raymond Nathaniel and Orpha Lovilla (Morgan) Johnson Munson. He attended Washington High School and graduated from American School in Chicago. He also took television and radio repair correspondence courses. He served in the Army during 1946 and 1947 with the 2nd Division. On December 31, 1948 he was united in marriage to Beatrice Bartholow at the Presbyterian Church in Washington.

Dwain was a member of the Reformed Presbyterian Church in Washington. He farmed for several years and later worked for the City of Washington as Superintendent of the waste water treatment plant, retiring in 1988 after twenty years of service. He enjoyed old cars, trains, restoring Allis Chalmers tractors, reading and spending time with family.

Survivors include his wife Beatrice of Washington, children, Cynthia Hanshaw of Brighton, David Johnson and wife Susan of Dahlgren, IL, Ben Johnson and wife Pam of Mt. Union and Chester Johnson and wife Kim of Washington; brothers Jerry Johnson and wife Dorothy of Las Vegas, NV and Lloyd Munson and wife Winnie of Silver City, IA; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and grandson Michael Ben Johnson.
