A celebration of life for Duran A. Richenberger, 60, of Wellman, formerly of Wayland will be held Wednesday, March 22, 2017 at 10:30 am at Kalona Mennonite Church with Pastors Josh Lundberg and Scott Swartzendruber officiating. Burial will be held at the North Hill Cemetery in Wayland. Visitation will be Tuesday, March 21, from 4 – 7 pm at the Kalona Mennonite Church. A memorial fund has been established for the Iowa Bicycle Coalition. Duran Richenberger died Thursday, March 16, 2017 at the University of Iowa Hospital.
Duran Allen Richenberger was born February 21, 1957 in Mt. Pleasant, Iowa, the son of Glen and Geraldine (Kaiser) Richenberger. He graduated from WACO High School. On December 22, 1977 he was united in marriage to Tracy Conner in Mt. Pleasant. Duran worked in a foundry for many years and was currently employed by Chris Schlabach Construction in Kalona. He was a member of the Lionel Collector's Club of American (LCCA) and enjoyed collecting trains, bicycling, playing the piano and spending time with his family. He and Tracy also enjoyed riding their bicycles on RAGBRAI.
Survivors include his wife Tracy of Wellman, two children: Eric Richenberger of Wellman, Laura (Micah) Scott of Richmond, daughter-in-law Annie Richenberger of Urbana, two granddaughters: Mirabelle and Penelope, his mother Geraldine Rixe of Wayland, three siblings: Stan (Mary Lou) Richenberger of Wayland, Michael Richenberger of Wayland, Cynthia Richenberger of Cedar Rapids, and his step mother Patricia Richenberger of Mt. Pleasant.
Preceding Duran in death was his father Glen, his step father Harold Rixe, sister-in-law Linda Richenberger and father and mother-in-law: Nina Evelyn and William Conner.
