Dr. Robert LaMay

Dr. Robert L. LaMay, 83 of Washington, died Sunday, December 29, 2013 at the University of Iowa Hospital and Clinics.

Funeral Services have been set for 11:00 AM Thursday, January 2, 2014 at the Beatty Funeral Home in Washington. Burial will follow at the Plains Cemetery north of Washington with military honors. The family will receive friends from 2-5:00 PM Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorials in the name of Robert L. LaMay have been designated to the Reformed Presbyterian Church in Washington.

Robert was born October 16, 1930 in Detroit, MI the son of Leonard Charles and Wilhelmina (Andre) LaMay. He was raised in Brooklyn, NY and graduated from Bushwick High School in Brooklyn, NY, Tarkio College in Tarkio, MO, received his Master of Divinity from Biblical Seminary in New York, NY, and a Doctor of Literature from Covenanter College in Fort Worth, TX. He was united in marriage to Kay Humphreys on July 2, 1966 in Lakemont, NY.

He served in the US Navy during the Korean Conflict in RI and Morocco. He was a faithful Minister of the Gospel for over 50 years, serving many congregations across the nation. He was a former member of the Lions Club and Rotary. He also served as a Police Chaplain.

He is survived by his loving wife Kay of Washington, daughter Dorcas Jarrard and husband Rob of Washington; son Philip LaMay and wife Michelle of Pittsburgh, PA; brother Louis LaMay and wife Joan of Horseheads, NY and six adoring grandchildren.
