Dorothy Boese

A celebration of life for Dorothy Boese, 83, of Wayland will be held Saturday, December 10, 2011 at 10:30AM at the Bethel Mennonite Church in rural Wayland, with Pastor Brad Gillis officiating. Visitation will be held Friday, December 9 from 4-7PM at the Bethel Mennonite Church. The body has been cremated and burial of the cremated remains will take place at a later date in the Bethel Mennonite Cemetery. Beatty Funeral Home is assisting with arrangements. A memorial fund has been established for the Bethel Basement Project or Parkview Home. Dorothy Boese died Monday, December 5, 2011 at the Parkview Home in Wayland.

Dorothy (Roth) Boese was born July 30, 1928 in Henry County, the daughter of Levi G. and Mayme E. (Wyse) Roth. She graduated from Wayland High School and on January 9, 1949 she was united in marriage to Harold E. Boese in her parents home. Dorothy worked at the Yoder Hatchery for many years and later at the McCleary Cummings Company in Washington. She was a charter member of the Bethel Mennonite Church where she faithfully served in many positions throughout the years, including custodian and lawn care. Dorothy enjoyed visiting with friends over coffee, and was a regular attendee at the Wayland Coffee Club. She enjoyed reading, puzzles and playing dominos with the grandchildren.

Survivors include two sons, Dean (Terri) Boese of Harrisonburg, Virginia, Gary (Marlene) Boese of Hesston, Kansas, four daugthers, Kathie (Bill) Grimm of Wayland, Karen (Mike) Bates of Washington, Shirley (Gary) Wade of Wayland, Annette (Merlin) Boshart of Wayland, one brother, David L. (Dorothy) Roth of Wayland, 19 grandchildren, and 12 great grandchildren.

Preceding Dorothy in death were her parents, husband Harold on December 18, 2008, son Keith, two brothers, James and Edward Roth and one sister, Donna Early.
