Donald G. Roth, 73 of Wayland, died Saturday, October 21, 2006 at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City.
Funeral Services have been set for 10:30 AM Wednesday, October 25, 2006 at the Sugar Creek Mennonite Church with Pastor Nathan Luitjens officiating. Burial will be in the Sugar Creek Cemetery. Visitation will begin at Noon Tuesday at the Sugar Creek Mennonite Church with family receiving friends from 6-8:00 in the evening. Memorials in the name of Donald G. Roth may be designated to the University of Iowa Dialysis Unit. Beatty Funeral Home of Wayland is assisting with arrangements.
Donald was born November 4, 1932 near Wayland, IA the son of Lloyd Ira and Lulu Elizabeth (Freyenberger) Roth. He graduated from High School and Iowa Wesleyan College. He was united in marriage to Karen Anne Lyons on April 13, 1991 at the Little Brown Church in Nashua.
Don was a lifelong member of the Sugar Creek Mennonite Church and served with 1-W at Iowa Methodist Hospital. He taught biology and drivers education for twenty years at Donnellson, Davenport, Lansing and substitute taught at other schools. He was also a salesman for Yoder Feeds and farmed the family farm. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and playing cards.
Survivors include his wife Karen of Wayland, children, JD Beghtol and wife Robyn of Kansas City, MO, Jim Beghtol and wife Michelle of Marion, IA, Cinnamon Krabill and husband Todd of Cadiz, KY and Tasha Beghtol and husband Dennis Boecker of Washington, IA; nephews, Mike Roth and wife Teri of Washington, IA, Terry Roth and wife Brenda of Grand Island, NE; niece Patricia Peters and husband Ken of Sunrise Beach, MO; eight grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Wesley Roth.
