Delmar “Bill” Adla Yoder, 94 of Washington, died Friday, November 30, 2007 at the Washington County Hospital following declining health.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 AM Tuesday, December 4, 2007 at St. James Catholic Church in Washington with Rev. Fr. Ed O’Melia officiating. Burial will follow at the St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Keota with Military Honors. Visitation will begin at Noon Monday at the Beatty Funeral Home in Washington with family receiving friends from 6-8:00 PM. A Rosary will be at 4:00 PM and a Vigil Service at 7:30 PM, both Monday at the Funeral Home. A memorial in the name of Delmar Yoder has been established to the Mc Creedy Home.
Bill was born July 19, 1913 in Wellman, Iowa the son of Daniel Webster and Mary Mabel (Miller) Yoder. He was united in marriage to Theola Altenhofen on October 10, 1939. He served in WW II with the U.S. Army in the Philippines with the 353rd Engineer Battalion. Following the death of Theola in 1968, he was united in marriage to Marie W. Jones on September 18, 1971. Marie preceded him in death, November 2, 2006.
Bill was a member of St. James Catholic Church and the VFW in Keota. He was a finish carpenter all his life in the Keota area. Bill and Marie moved to Washington in 1989. He enjoyed fishing, puzzles, the Chicago Cubs and his family.
Survivors include Donna L. Williams and husband Jim of Cedar Rapids, Linda C. Wheatley and husband Dan of Iowa City, Peg A. Smith and husband Bruce of Washington and Roxanne R. Tang and husband Ray of Iowa City, stepson, Karl Jones of Flippin, AR and Everett Jones of Bettendorf, IA; seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, both wives, son Larry Yoder, step-son Ray Jones, brothers Dale and Bob, and sister Edith Yoder.
