Debra M. Zahradnek, 48 of Washington died Saturday, February 12, 2005 at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City.
Funeral Services have been set for 10:30 A.M. Tuesday, February 15, 2005 at the United Methodist Church in Washington with Rev. Rich Boyd and Rev. Charles Visser officiating. Burial will be in the Elm Grove Cemetery. Visitation will begin at Noon Monday at the Beatty Funeral Home in Washington with family present from 6-8:00 in the evening. A memorial in the name of Debra Zahradnek has been established to Hospice of Washington County.
Debra was born October 9, 1956 in Washington, Iowa the daughter of Earl LeRoy and Nora Florita (Blick) Hobbs. She graduated from Mid-Prairie High School in 1974 and Southeastern Community College in Burlington. Debra was united in marriage to David A. Zahradnek, September 20, 1975 at the West Chester Methodist Church.
Deb was raised in the West Chester area and for the last twenty-three years lived in Washington. Deb was employed at WCDC for several years before becoming Executive Director of Hospice of Washington County in 1997. While with Hospice she grew and enhanced services which touched many people. Deb was devoted to the mission of Hospice. She enjoyed her family, crafts, music, flowers and her dog Tidbit.
Survivors include her husband David of Washington, son Clinton of Washington; two brothers, Dean Hobbs and wife Shirley of West Chester and Tom Hobbs and wife Karen of West Chester and sister Julie Shull of rural Iowa City.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
