A Celebration of Life for Dean V. Farrier, 87, of Washington will be held Monday, June 3, 2019 at 1:00 PM at the Beatty Funeral Home in Washington. Burial will follow at Sandyhook Cemetery in Brighton. Visitation will be held Sunday, June 2, 2019 from noon – 6PM at the Beatty Funeral Home, where the family will greet friends from 4 – 6PM. A general memorial fund has been established. Dean Farrier died Saturday, May 25, 2019 at his home in Washington.
Dean Virgil Farrier was born February 20, 1932 in Brighton, Iowa, the son of Charlie and Frealove (Rich) Farrier. He graduated from Brighton High School and worked as a switchman for the Rock Island Railroad and was a truck driver. On June 12, 1951 he was united in marriage to Thelma I. Van Winkle at the Brighton Methodist Church. Dean enjoyed woodworking, watching westerns and doing puzzles.
Survivors include three daughters: Connie French, Sandra Farrier and Karen (Jim) Kofron all of Washington, six grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
Dean was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Thelma, one twin son and six siblings: Inez Sell, Velta Worley, Ray Farrier, Rex Farrier, Orval Farrier and Veva Hisoire.
