Funeral services for David H. Wenger, 77 of Wayland, IA will be held Friday, July 10, 2015 at 10:30 AM at Sugar Creek Mennonite Church in Wayland with Pastor Pam Gerig Unruh officiating.  Burial will follow at the Sugar Creek Mennonite Cemetery.  Visitation will be held from 3 - 8 PM on Thursday, July 9 at Sugar Creek, with the family present from 5 – 8PM.  If desired, the family suggests memorial contributions to Rich and Kathy Stuebing, lifelong friends who have served as missionaries in Zambia for over 40 years. David Wenger passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday, July 5, 2015.  Beatty Funeral Home is caring for the family and memories and condolences may be shared at beattyfuneralhome.com

David Henry Wenger was born March 30, 1938 at his parents farmhouse in Washington County, IA, the son of Emery and Mary (Roth) Wenger.  David attended country school before graduating from Olds High School in 1956.  David attended Hesston College for two years and then served in 1-W at the Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis, IN for two years.  He was united in marriage to Arlene Yoder on June 15, 1963.  The couple started farming west of Swedesburg in 1963 and farmed for over 50 years.  They had three children: Kevin, Jan and Jon.  David was an active member of Sugar Creek Mennonite Church and enjoyed spending time with his family.  He was an avid car collector and especially enjoyed going to car shows.

Survivors include his wife Arlene of Wayland, Kevin (Dorothy) Wenger of Mt. Pleasant, IA., Jan (John) Kauffman of Monroeville, IN., Jon (Ginger) Wenger of Mt. Pleasant, IA., seven grandchildren: Carissa, Nathaniel and Kalen Wenger; Katie and Allison Kauffman; Alexa and Brodie Wenger, three sisters: Mildred (Keith) Gingerich of North English, IA.,  Beulah (Jerry) Steiner of Wooster, OH, Mary (Mark) Headings of Wooster, OH and several nieces and nephews.

Preceding David in death were his parents and an infant granddaughter, Brenna Wenger.
