David Smothers

Memorial Services for David T. Smothers, 54 of Coralville, IA will be Monday, March 22, 2010 at 2:00PM at the Beatty Funeral Home in Washington, IA with Pastor Grant Nebel officiating. Burial will be held at a later date. Visitation will be held from noon until service time at the Funeral Home on Monday.
David died at his home in Coralville on Monday, March 15, 2010 following a lengthy illness. A memorial fund has been established for the American Cancer Society and Iowa City Hospice.


David was born August 30, 1955 in Iowa City, Iowa the son of Arnold K. and Mary Ruth (White) Smothers. He graduated from Washington High School. He was employed by Centro, Inc, in North Liberty, as a Business Process Owner. He attended Parkview Church in Iowa City, and enjoyed fishing, deer hunting, and was a member of the Harley Davidson owner’s group. He was an avid Iowa Hawkeye and Arkansas Razorback fan.


Survivors include his mother, Lea Smothers of Washington, three brothers, Collin (Joann) Proctor, Wilton, IA, Dr. Brian (Tamara) Proctor of La Crosse, WI, Todd (Marsha) Smothers of West Des Moines, IA, two sisters, Patricia (Bill) Bolton of Peoria, IL, and Brenda (Gary) Wilhelm of Cranston, IA.


Preceding David in death were his father, Arnold on July 31, 2009 and birth mother Mary Ruth Smothers.
