David Gingerich

 A funeral service for David M Gingerich will be held Monday, March 3, 2025, at 9:30 AM at the Maple Avenue Greenhouse, Kalona, where visitation will be held Saturday March 1, and Sunday March 2, from 1PM on, each day. Burial will be held following the funeral on Monday at South Gingerich Cemetery north of Kalona. The Beatty Peterseim Funeral Home is assisting the family.

David M Gingerich was born on April 21, 1938, to John D and Anna (Mast) Gingerich. He was baptized in the Old Order Amish Church in his youth and remained a faithful member until his death. He was united in marriage to Vera Hochstedler on September 29, 1959, living in matrimony for 65 years. David was a farmer and owned and operated the Kalona Harness Shop. David passed away on February 27, 2025, at his daughters' home due to complications of congestive heart failure at the age of 86 years, 10 months, and 6 days.

He is survived by his wife Vera Gingerich of Kalona, IA; ten children: Daniel (Miriam) of Millington, MI, Galen (Beth) of Seward, NE, Leslie (Marlene) of Congress, AZ, Wesley (Karen) of Kokomo, IN, John Dale (Wanda) of Kalona, IA, Fred (Lillian) of Irvington, KY, Ollie, Miriam, Nina (Vernon) Miller and Susanna all of Kalona, IA; 29 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren, three step children, 16 step grandchildren and 9 step great-grandchildren.

Preceding David in death were his parents, his half siblings, Vernon Lloyd and Susanna, and two grandchildren, Krystle and Norman Gingerich.
