Darlyne Jaspering, 86 of Washington, died Monday, October 20, 2008 at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City following a sudden illness.
Funeral services will be held Friday, October 24 a 10:00AM at the First Assembly of God Church in Washington, Iowa with Pastor James Cluney officiating. Burial will follow in the Elm Grove Cemetery in Washington. Visitation will be held Thursday, October 23 at the Beatty Funeral Home in Washington from noon until 7PM. The family will greet friends from 4-7PM. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established for the First Assembly of God Church.
Darlyne was born June 4, 1922 in Macomb, IL. the daughter of John and Catherine (Duncan) Carey. She was united in marriage to Melvin Jaspering on March 29, 1947 in Muscatine, IA. The couple lived all of their married life in Washington. She was a homemaker and also worked at the Pearl Button Factory and in the laundry department at the Washington County Hospital. She was a member of the First Assembly of God Church and enjoyed spending time with her children and especially her grandchildren, baking, cross-stitch, scrabble, watching the Iowa Hawkeye’s, gardening, canning and listening to gospel music.
Survivors include her husband Melvin of Washington, six children and spouses, Sandy and husband Mac Conrad of Washington, Linda and husband Mike Gardner of Mesa, AZ., Don and wife Marcia Jaspering of Ames, IA., Rick and wife Bert Jaspering of Washington, Pam and husband Fred Witt of Washington, Mike and wife Tess Jaspering of Grimes, IA., ten grandchildren, Tracey Altenhofen, Toni and husband Mac McNair, Nancy and husband Jim Rich, Tim and wife Krista Jaspering, Shelley Jaspering, Aaron and Adam Jaspering, Austin and Michael Witt and Alex Jaspering, four great grandchildren, Michael McNair, David Rich, Isabella Jaspering and Alan Jaspering.
Also surviving are six siblings, Alice Dawson of Aurora, CO., Joanne and husband John Collett of Washington, Shirley and husband Curt York of Ainsworth, IA., John and wife Connie Carey, Jim and wife Kay Carey, and Joyce and husband Brian Nash all of Washington, IA.
Preceding Darlyne in death were her parents, one daughter, Deb Jaspering, one brother Richard Carey, and two sisters, Donna Wagenknecht and Mary Sheetz.
