Daniel Duane Leichty, 81 of Wayland, died Friday, September 28, 2012 at the Henry County Health Center in Mt. Pleasant.
A Memorial Service will be 11:00 AM Monday, October 1, 2012 at the Bethel Mennonite Church with Pastor Brad Gillis officiating. Burial will be at 9:30 AM Monday prior to the service in the Bethel Cemetery. Family vistitation will be at the Bethel Mennonite Church Sunday, September, 30, 2012 from 3-5:00 PM. Beatty Funeral Home is assisting with arrangements. A memorial in the name of Daniel Leichty has been established to the Bethel Mennonite Church or Crooked Creek Christian Camp.
Daniel D. Leichty was born March 22, 1931 in Wayland, Iowa the son of Willard R. And Ruth (Augsburger) Leichty. He graduated from Wayland High School. On August 26, 1951 he was united in marriage to Arlene Conrad at the Bethel Mennonite Church in rural Wayland. Daniel was a farmer and charter member of the Bethel Mennonite Church. He was also a member of the Wayland Area Tractor Club and the Winnebego Camping Club. He was an avid Hawkeye fan.
Survivors include two children, Lonnie and wife Wendy Leichty of Wayland, IA, Lora and husband Gene Stauffer of Burlington, IA, 11 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, two brothers, Lowell Leichty of Coralville, IA, Norman and wife Marilyn Leichty of Trenton, IA, three sisters, Marilyn Roth of Des Moines, IA, Wilma and husband Ekkehard Lichti of Goshen, IN and Linda and husband James Williams of Amite, LA.
Preceding Daniel in death were his parents, and one son, Dean Leichty.
