Dale Leland Janecek

Dale Leland Janecek, age 84, from Washington, Iowa, entered his eternal resting place in heaven this week at Stirlingshire Nursing Home after battling cancer this past year.

His body has been cremated and no services are scheduled.

Dale was born, March 15, 1939, in Washington, Iowa, the son of Frank and Flossie (Farrier) Janecek. He graduated from Washington High School in 1957. Dale married Linda Choate in 1962 with whom he had 2 children. They later divorced after 20 years of marriage. Dale spent the next 42 years of his life with his best friend Bonnie Herfel. Dale lived in Washington County Iowa most all of his life.

After high school Dale moved to Davenport, Iowa where he worked for Alcoa for 2 years before returning to Washington County Iowa to start farming North of Ainsworth, after 2 years he moved to Crawfordsville, Iowa where he farmed for 10 years. In 1973 Dale purchased his farm East of Washington where he raised hogs and chickens and grew corn, oats, and soybeans.

Dale enjoyed hunting and bass fishing. He was a jack of all trades when it came to fixing things. He was good at electrical and plumbing, always fixed his own equipment when needed, and was an excellent carpenter. He especially enjoyed fishing trips to Minnesota and Truman Lake in Missouri with his fishing buddies.

Dale is survived by his best friend, Bonnie Herfel, his son, Mark Janecek of Mt. Pleasant, Iowa, and his daughter, Jackie Knupp, of Washington, Iowa. He has 3 grandsons, Austin (Tiffany) Knupp, Tanner Knupp, and Tucker Janecek. He also was blessed with 2 great grandchildren, Eleanor and Adaline Knupp.

Dale was proceeded in death by his parents and his brother, George.
