He graduated from Hubbard High School and earned a BA at Cincinnati Bible Seminary. Dale served as a pastor in several churches and was the minister at the Frytown Church of Christ from 1972 until 1985. Dale and Ethel Mae Wickersham-Brown were married in Richmond, IN on December 14, 1941. Poetry was another ministry of his life He wrote a vast number poems and had published many books of poetry. His last piece of writing was start several weeks ago and had not been finished. He kept a detailed diary and wrote an autobiography. Dale is survived by five children and spouses: Rebecca and Ted Tanberg of Iowa City, Victor and Evelyn Knowles of Joplin, MO, Muriel and Jerry Paregien of Kingsport, TN, Bonnie and Gary McGlumphry of Iowa City and David and Pam Knowles of Morristown, TN. Also surviving are 15 grandchildren: Mindy Knowles, Bridget Triplett, Amanda Boberg, Emily Martin, Portia Knowles, Kristi Petersen, Laura Allen, Lincoln Knowles, Trenton, Knowles, Kelly McGlumphry, Keevin McGlumphry, Jonathan McGlumphry, Nathan McGlumphry, Garilee McGlumphry, Joshua Tanberg and 17 great grandchildren. One brother, Boyd Knowles of Coarsegold, CA also survives. Preceding Dale in death were his wife Ethel (Dearie) Knowles, April 5, 1985, two brothers, Lyle and Troy Knowles and one sister Lois Halatyn. May God bless each of you for sharing and caring in Dale's life. Your many acts of kindness will always be treasured.
