A graveside service for Colleen Cunningham, 84, of Wayland will be held Saturday, June 27 at 10:00 AM at the Elm Grove Cemetery in Washington with Pastor Robert Wolf officiating. A visitation will be held following the service from 11:30 AM to 2:00 PM at the Beatty Funeral Home in Washington. A memorial fund for Hospice of Washington County has been established. Colleen Cunningham died Saturday, June 20, 2015 at Parkview Home in Wayland.
Colleen (Williams) Cunningham was born June 9, 1931 in Des Moines, IA, the daughter of Jacob and Minnie Mae (Fletcher) Williams. On August 11, 1949 she was united in marriage to Donald Dow Cunningham in Des Moines. She worked in retail at Woolworth's for 40 years at different locations and at the Parkview Home. Colleen was a member of the Independent Bible Church in Wayland. She enjoyed crocheting, teaching family members to crochet, reading, baking and spending time with her family.
Survivors include a son, Don (Wanda) Cunningham of Texas, a daughter, Diane Slagter of Des Moines, IA, 12 grandchildren, 32 great grandchildren, and 7 great great grandchildren.
Preceding Colleen in death were her parents, her husband Donald D., two sons, Danny and David Cunningham, seven sisters: Genevieve, Pearl, Vera, LaVaughn, Bernice, Mary Lou and JoAnn, and six brothers: Fay, Fred, Ted, Maynard, Art and Larry.
