Christopher Jon Vogel

Christopher “Chris” J. Vogel, 53, of Harper, died Saturday, March 5, 2022, as a result of injuries suffered in a car accident. His body has been cremated and a gathering will be held at a later date. A memorial fund in Chris’s name has been established for a college fund for his sons. Checks may be written to Laura Vogel and mailed to PO Box 386, Kalona, IA. 52247. The Beatty Peterseim Funeral Home is assisting the family.

Christopher Jon Vogel was born January 31, 1969, in Cedar Rapids, the son of Gary and Laura (Foster) Vogel. He graduated from Keota High School. Chris worked in various construction and concrete jobs throughout his life. He was united in marriage to McKenzie Olesen on January 31, 2014, in Iowa City. The couple later divorced. Chris enjoyed fishing, mushroom hunting, playing pool, and spending time with his boys and family.

Survivors include his two sons: Zeno and Zander Vogel, his mother Laura Vogel (Hank Beisheim) of Kalona, his father Gary Vogel (Emmilee) Kohl of Iowa City, and a number of aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Preceding Chris in death were his maternal grandparents, Henry and Dolores Foster, and paternal grandparents Leon and Rita Vogel.
