Funeral services for Charles L. (Chuck) Peiffer, 84, of Kalona will be held Thursday, November 17, 2016 at 11:00 am at the First Christian Church in Washington with Pastor Colton Clay officiating. The body will be cremated following the service. Visitation will be held Wednesday, November 16, 2016 from 4 – 7 pm at the Peterseim Funeral Home in Kalona. A memorial fund has been established for the First Christian Church and Hospice of Washington County. Charles Peiffer died Sunday, November 13, 2016 at the Pleasantview Home in Kalona.
Charles Leonard Peiffer was born August 13, 1932 in Keota, Iowa, the son of Frank and Leona (Dumont) Peiffer. He graduated from Keota High School and married Shirley Cupp, the couple later divorced. Chuck farmed in the Keota area, was a crop and hail insurance adjustor and operated a seed cleaning business. On January 8, 1983 he was united in marriage to Anna M. Miller in Kalona. He was a member of the First Christian Church in Washington and enjoyed puzzles, country drives and Yotty's ice cream.
Survivors include his wife Anna of Kalona, seven children: Dan (Bunny) Peiffer of Washington, Tony Peiffer (Paul Davis) of Maui, Hawaii, Fred (Kay) Peiffer of Kalona, Randy (Carla) Peiffer, Kevin Peiffer and Pat Peiffer all of Washington, Judy (Rob) Wooldrik of Denver, CO., three step children: Karen (Dean) Schrock and Julie (Joe) Sojka of Kalona and Terry Miller of Washington, 22 grandchildren, 40 great grandchildren and three sisters: Martha Gregan of Columbus Jct., Suzanne (Bob) Judge of Des Moines, Mary Ann (Frank) Dunn of Dubuque two sisters-in-law Rita Hammes of Fairfield and Virginia Peiffer of Des Moines.
Preceding Chuck in death were his parents, his first wife Shirley, one grandson Chad Van Voltenburg, two brothers: Gerald and Lloyd Peiffer and two sisters: Lillian (Jim) Vitettoe and Lucille (Snowy) Cady, and brother-in-law Frank Gregan.
