Celebration of life services for 85-year old Charles Roger Johnson of Wellman are Tuesday, September 7 at 10:00 AM at the Peterseim Funeral Home, Kalona. Inurnment will follow in the Wellman Public Cemetery. Visitation for Roger Johnson will be Monday, September 6 at the Peterseim Funeral Home from 5-7 PM. A Masonic service will be at 7:00 PM following visitation. Roger Johnson died Thursday, August 19, 2010 at his home in rural Wellman.

Charles Roger Johnson was born July 13, 1925 in Washington. He was the son of Charles Toppan and Tressa Phillips Johnson. Roger graduated from Wellman High School and attended Iowa State University for two years. He served in WWII in the Pacific Campaigns. Roger and RoseMary Louis were married in Atlantic, Iowa on February 20, 1949.

He was 50 year plus member of Dayton Lodge # 149 and a 50 year member of Naomi Chapter Order of Eastern Star, he was a longtime member of Kaaba Shrine, had served as a trustee for many years in the Lime Creek Township. He was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church and a 60-year member of the American Legion. He had also been a 4-H leader for a number of years.

Roger is survived by four children and spouses: James and Barbara Johnson, of Oskaloosa, Iowa, Charles (Charlie) and Sandy Johnson of Wellman, Mary Jo and Kendall Foster of Trenton, MO., Margaret and Cary Lippert of St. Charles, MO., eight grandchildren, Laura Kibbe, Greg Johnson, Lynne Johnson, Kendra Foster, Marshall Foster, Malinda Foster, Calvin Lippert and Jennifer Lippert, three great grandchildren, Emily Kibbe, Dallas Kibbe, and Charles Johnson, and one sister, Harriet (George) Kisner of Wellman.

Preceding Roger in death were his parents and wife Rosemary.

A memorial fund in his honor has been established for Shrine Children's Hospitals, Wellman Ambulance or Hospice of Washington County.
