A memorial service for Charla R. Mead, 57 of Washington will be held Monday, December 12, 2011 at 2PM at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Washington with President Doug Campbell officiating. Burial will be held Tuesday, December 13 in Springfield, Illinois. A general memorial fund has been established.
Charla Rae Kelley Hurley Mead was born March 15, 1954 in Grafton, West Virginia, the daughter of Robert and Willa (Booth) Hurley. She was united in marriage to Gregory Mead on February 25, 1975 in Rapid City, South Dakota. Charla served in the United States Air Force from 1974 – 1982. She worked as a government civilian employee from 1991 – 2010. Charla was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She enjoyed geneology, spending time with her grandchildren, reading, traveling and gardening.
Survivors include her husband Greg Mead of Washington, seven children, Steven (Carol) Mead of Watertown, South Dakota, Crystal (Scott) Grimes of Orem, Utah, Angelina (Klint) Singley of Polo, Illinois, Steffanie (Edward) Kilroy of Darien, Wisconsin, Gregory II (Frances) Mead of MT. Morris, Illinois, Joshua Mead of Washington, Adam (Shelia) Mead of Washington, 13 grandchildren, two brothers, Charles Kelley of Grafton, West Virignia, and Terry Kelley of Virginia.
Preceding Charla in death were her parents and a daughter, Angelica.
