Cecil W. Bender, 68, of Macon, Missouri, died Thursday, December 15, 2022, as a result of injuries suffered in an automobile accident. His body has been cremated and a memorial service will be held Thursday, December 22, 2022, at 11:00 AM at Sunnyside Conservative Church in Kalona. The family will greet friends on Wednesday, December 21, from 3 – 7 PM at the Peterseim Funeral Home in Kalona. A general memorial fund has been established.
Cecil Wayne Bender was born October 18, 1954, in Washington, Iowa, the son of Ivan and Mattie H. (Miller) Bender. He attended Snake Hollow Rural School. He was united in marriage to Barb Watkinson in 1976, the couple had two boys, Jason and Terry, and later divorced. Cecil worked at the Kalona Cheese Factory and Concrete Walls, and after moving to Macon he was a driver for the Amish. Cecil loved ponies, being with his family, spending time on his land, and playing marbles and Euchre.
Survivors include his two sons: Jason Bender (Mindy Howe) of Keota, Terry Bender (Shannon Wiegard) of Marengo, eight grandchildren: Lexi and Kaylee, Miles, Mason, Max, Mallory, Maddy and Markus, special friend Arlene, and five siblings: Marvin (Emma) Bender of Kalona, Rufus Bender of Kalona, Ezra Bender of Macon, MO, Serena Zahradnek of Kalona and Morris Bender of Keota, and a number of cousins and nieces and nephews.
Preceding Cecil in death were his parents and one sister Esther Bell.
