Catherine Richard, 88 of Wayland, died Thursday, June 21, 2007 at the Parkview Home in Wayland following a lengthy illness.
Funeral Services have been set for 10:30 AM Monday, June 25, 2007 at the Sugar Creek Mennonite Church with Rev. Robert Hartzler officiating. Burial will be in the Sugar Creek Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 1:00 PM Sunday at the church with family receiving friends from 4-6:00. Beatty Funeral Home in Wayland is assisting with arrangements. A memorial in the name of Catherine Richard has been established.
Catherine was born November 12, 1918 in Washington Co. Iowa the daughter of Eli J. “EJ” and Annie (Bissey) Yoder. She attended school in Nira, IA and was united in marriage to Oscar Richard in February 1948 at the Sugar Creek Mennonite Church.
She was faithful member of the Sugar Creek Mennonite Church. Catherine farmed with her husband and also was bookkeeper for Richard Oil Co. She enjoyed crafts and spending time with her family.
Survivors include her sons Daniel Richard and wife Pat of Brighton and Dean Richard of Lone Tree, IA; daughter in law Mary Jo Richard of Wayland; nine grandchildren and twenty-one great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Husband, two sons, Larry and infant, two brothers, Arnold and Delmer and sister Orpha Gugel.
