Carroll Hansen

April 21, 1925 — November 12, 2003

Carroll Myron Hansen Sr. “Bud”, 78 of Wayland, died Wednesday, November 12, 2003 at home in Wayland following declining health.

Memorial Service will be 7:00 P.M. Monday, November 24, 2003 at the Calvary Baptist Church in Mt. Pleasant with Pastor Jeff Crawford officiating. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at the Durham Cemetery in Durham, CA at a later date. Beatty Funeral Home of Wayland is assisting with the arrangements. Memorials may be designated to Crossroads Hospice of Southeast Iowa.

Bud was born April 21, 1925 in rural Sanger, CA the son of Jens Peter and Helen Eunice (Reid) Hansen. On April 12, 1947 he was united in marriage to Lorraine Elinor McNabb in Durham, CA.

He was a member of Mid Valley Baptist Church in Durham, CA and attended Calvary Baptist Church in Mt. Pleasant. He was also a member of the Durham, CA American Legion Post 673 and Chico, CA VFW Post 1555.

Following High School he served with the U.S. Army 397th Infantry Regiment during WWII. He was involved in the European theater where he received the Purple Heart. Bud farmed most of his life retiring in 1991 and moved to Wayland in 1994 with his family. He enjoyed model railroad trains and was a member of the Washington Model Railroad and Train Club.

Survivors include three sons, Carroll Jr. and wife Terri of Wayland, IA, Steve Hansen of Durham, CA and Jamie Hansen of Willows, CA; daughter, Jeanene Hansen of Durham, CA; two sisters, Mary Ellen Welch and husband Bill of Fresno, CA and Alice Fogle of
Sacramento, CA; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and sister Francelia Willadsen.
