Carolina Kemp was born near Kalona in Johnson County, Iowa. She was the daughter of Benedick S. and Katie Ann Yoder Kemp. Carolina attended East Lincoln rural school. She was employed by Mercy Hospital for a number of years and also did reflexology in her home. She attended Kalona Mennonite Church. Carolina loved to work outside, gardening and making quilts. She especially enjoyed making quilts for the nieces and nephews. Surviving Carolina are her siblings and spouses; Samuel Kemp of Kalona, Elmer Kemp of Arthur, IL, Alta (Elmer G.) Miller of Kalona, Alvin (Rachel) Kemp of Wellman, Edna (Milford) Yoder of Wellman, Noah (Linda) Kemp of Kalona, Mary Jane (Stanley Doyle) Yoder, Sr. of Ozark, MO, a sister-in-law, Betty Kemp of Iowa City and a family friend, Carol Bekker of Iowa City. Also surviving are 31 nieces and nephews:Anne Kennell, Judy Suman, Becky Grishkowsky, Mary Highstrom, Ruth Miller, Rosa Kemp, Diane Schrader, Julie Kemp, Karma Kemp, Kari McGaffey, Sharon Trotta, Sara O'Donnell, Rachel Knebel, Katie Miller Katherine Yoder,Paul Kemp,Dan Kemp, David Kemp,Steve Kemp,John Kemp,Tim Kemp,Dale Kemp,Mike Kemp, Lowell Miller,Merlin Miller,Keith Miller,Kevin Kemp, Kurt Kemp,Doyle Yoder, Neil Yoder,and Stan Yoder, Jr.and numerous great nieces and nephews. Carolina was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, Henry, Omer and Maynard, one sister Fannie Kemp, two sisters-in-law, Elizabeth Kemp and Ella Kemp and two nieces Angela Kemp and Carol Kemp Miller. A memorial fund in her honor has been established for the Kalona Mennonite Church or Iowa City Hospice. The family appreciates all the many kindnesses that were extended to Carolina during her courageous battle with cancer. Your love, prayers and support at this time of loss will always be remembered.
