Carolann “Carol” Ruth Ewalt, 82 of West Chester, died Thursday, August 1, 2024, at Halcyon in Washington.
The celebration of her life will be 6:00PM, Thursday, August 8, 2024, at the Iowa City Park Shelter #12 lower level. Her body has been cremated. The Beatty-Peterseim Funeral Home is assisting with arrangements. Memorials in her name may be designated to Hospice of Washington County.
Carol was born July 11, 1942, in Wichita, KS, the daughter of Harry Franklin and Annetta Ruth (Worden) Willey Jr. and raised by her adopted father Everett “Shorty” Harold Hull. She graduated from Iowa City High School in 1961, served in the US Navy as a nurse’s aide, graduated from Kirkwood College in auto mechanics, floriculture and computer technology from ITT Tech. She was united in marriage to Laura Crockett, May 15, 2009, in Washington County, IA. She spent most of her life in Iowa City, Pennsylvania, Wellman and most recently West Chester. She was employed with Metro Pavers, driving a dump truck, City of Iowa City Parks Department, Iowa City Community Schools, Transport America as a truck driver and also a school bus driver for the Mid Prairie School District. She was a member of the Solon American Legion, enjoyed computers, video gaming, and helping with both the Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts.
Survivors include her spouse Laura Crockett-Ewalt of West Chester; children, Todd Lee Ewalt, Keota, Catherine Lynn Ewalt Stine, West Chester, Patrick Robert Ewalt, North Liberty and Christopher Robert Ewalt of West Chester; grandchildren, Ryan Alain Stine, West Chester, Megan Lynn (Olivia Danielle) Bell and Ashley Marie (Phil, Jr.) Radeboldt; great-grandchildren, Dwight Spencer Radeboldt and Brooklyn James Radeboldt; siblings, Marcia (Melvin) Willey Jenn of Iowa City, Earl Everett (Linda) Hull of Iowa City, Louis Harold Hall of Neuvo Arenal, Costa Rica and Charolette Marie (Donald Louis “Fabe” Fabian) Hull.
She was preceded in death by her parents, siblings, infant brother Robert Edwin Hull, Harry Allen Willey and Tanya Dee Hull; one infant great-granddaughter Jenna Marie Ewalt.
