Bruce Alan Chapman, 57 of Kalona, Iowa, died August 27, 2008, in Louisa County, Iowa, as a result of a vehicle accident. A celebration of life service will be held Saturday, August 30, 2008, 2:00PM at Shiloh, rural Kalona. A memorial fund has been established for the family. Bruce A. Chapman was born in Cheyenne, Wyoming, September 21, 1950, the son of Frank D. and Velma J. (Cole) Chapman. He was united in marriage to Elyse Osincup June 13, 1982, in Baldwin Park, California. He graduated in 1969 from Laramie High School, Laramie, Wyoming and received a BA in History, Philosophy, and Political Science graduating Cum Laude from Azusa Pacific College, Azusa, California. He held California teaching credentials in History K-12. Mr. Chapman attended the Masters Program for School Administration at Cal State University in Fullerton, California. He was a teacher and licensed contractor in California and Iowa. He served as a Specialist/4th Class in the US Army Signal Corps and served in Germany from 1970-1973. He worked as a cabinet designer for AR-Jay Center in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. He was currently employed by Westaff at Oral B in Iowa City, Iowa. He loved woodworking, antique store hunting, was an avid reader, enjoyed history, was an Eagle Scout. Bruce loved his country and was red, white and blue through and through. He is survived by his wife, Elyse Chapman, Kalona; a son, Benjamin Chapman, Kalona; his parents, Frank and Velma Chapman, Meridian, Idaho; two sisters, Barbara and husband Bruce Lobdell of Juneau, Alaska; Bonnie and husband Ed Prahl, Laramie, Wyoming, and many nieces and nephews.
