Brenda Reece

A Celebration of life for Brenda L. Reece, 58, of Kalona, will be held Wednesday, January 22, 2020, at 11 AM at HighPoint City Church, 4187 Landon Avenue SW, Iowa City, with Pastor Dan Feigenspan officiating. A time of fellowship and food will follow the service. In lieu of flowers, a general memorial fund has been established. Brenda L. Reece died Tuesday, January 14, 2020, at the University of Iowa Hospital.

Brenda Lee (Slaubaugh) Reece was born December 7, 1961, in Iowa City, the daughter of Wayne L. and Linda (Livezey) Slaubaugh. She graduated from Mid-Prairie High School in 1980. On March 26, 1982, she was united in marriage to Kevin Reece at the Kalona United Methodist Church. Brenda was a devoted and supportive Navy wife. She pursued higher education in Business Management and worked for Yoder Masonry as a secretary and bookkeeper. She most recently worked at the Kalona Golf Course. Brenda attended HighPoint City Church where she loved deepening her faith and relationship with God. She was past president of the Richmond AMVETS Post #107 Ladies’ Auxiliary and held offices at the state level for the Department of Iowa AMVETS Ladies’ Auxiliary. Brenda enjoyed spending time with her grandkids, traveling, crocheting and hanging out with family and friends.

Survivors include her husband Kevin of Kalona, two sons: Jason and Shannon White Reece of Boise, ID, Michael and Sheena Narine Reece of Apopka, FL, two grandsons: Logan Reece and Bryson Reece, her mother Linda Slaubaugh of Kalona, two sisters: Terri (Larry) Yoder of Riverside, Sally Callahan of Iowa City, brother-in-law Jay Hulser of Kalona, three sisters-in-law: Lori, Deanna, and Cathy Reece and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews.

Preceding Brenda in death was her father Wayne, sister Jeannie Hulser and her in laws: Bill and Marcia Reece.
