Bill White, 72 of Mount Pleasant, died Saturday, February 7, 2004 at the McKenna Memorial Hospital in New Braunfels, Texas as the result of congestive heart failure.
Memorial services have been set for 1:30 P.M. Thursday, February 19, 2004 at the First Presbyterian Church in Mt. Pleasant with Rev. Jerry Kelly officiating. Burial will be at a later date in the Forest Home Cemetery. Friends and family may sign the memorial book from 9:00 a.m. till 5:00 p.m. Wednesday at the Beatty Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant. Memorials in the name of Bill White may be designated to the American Heart Association.
Bill was born February 14, 1931 in Fairfield, Iowa the son of Arthur and Doris (Howe) White. He graduated from Mt. Pleasant High School and on December 30, 1948 was united in marriage to Gladys Greer in Iowa City, Iowa.
He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Masonic Lodge, Jaycees of Mt. Pleasant, Mt. Pleasant Golf and Country Club and for thirteen years the Iowa National Guard.
Following High School he was employed for a short time at the Iowa Ordnance Plant in Middletown and later joined his father at Whites Floorcovering where he became the owner and operator for almost fifty years. He enjoyed golfing, bowling and gardening.
Survivors include his wife Gladys of Mt. Pleasant; two sons Michael White and wife Bonnie of Mt. Pleasant and John White of Iowa City, Iowa; brother Dennis White and wife Carolyn of Mt. Pleasant and two grandchildren, Amanda and Aaron.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
