A graveside service for Earl W. "Bill" Martin, 69, of Wellman, will be held Saturday, November 10, 2018 at 11AM at the Wellman Public Cemetery. A general memorial fund has been established and donations may be sent to 2065 Nutmeg Avenue, Washington, IA, 52353. Bill Martin died Wednesday, October 31, 2018, at the VA Hospital in Iowa City. The Peterseim Funeral Home is assisting the family.

Earl William Martin was born February 20, 1949, in Washington County, Iowa, the son of Earl Kenneth and Bernice Catherine (Kelley) Martin. He graduated from Mid-Prairie High School and served in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War. Bill was united in marriage to Phyllis Plecker and the couple later divorced. Bill was employed in the SPD at the VA Hospital for over 20 years. After retirement, he spent several years as a farm hand in Keota. He was a member of the Wellman American Legion and the Wellman Fire Department. Bill enjoyed NASCAR, watching westerns, reading, farming and telling stories with friends.

Survivors include his three children: Danielle (Kevin) Shultz of Washington, IA, Deric (Jamie) Martin of Wellman, IA, Deanne (Andy) Townsend of Stratford, IA, 11 grandchildren: Hailey, Hunter, Kaleb, Kamren, Kaitlin, Andrew, Aaron, Ahna, Ashton, Adin and Anthony, two brothers: Kenneth (Rhonda) Martin of Washington, IA, Mike Martin of Tuscon, AZ, and a sister Karen (Wilson) Guengerich of Washington, IA.

Preceding Bill in death were his parents.
