Beulah Askea

Beulah Mae Askea, 94 of Washington died Friday, June 25, 2004 at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City following declining health.

Funeral Services have been set for 1:00 P.M. Wednesday, June 30, 2004 at the Beatty Funeral Home in Washington with Rev. Dean Elmore officiating. Burial will be at the Elm Grove Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 9:00 A.M. Tuesday with the family receiving friends from 6-8:00 P.M at the Funeral Home. A memorial has been established in the name of Beulah Mae Askea.

Beulah was born December 1, 1909 near Coppock in Marion Township, Iowa the daughter of John Cleveland and Ida Mae (Nicola) McKune and attended Eureka Country School. She was united in marriage to Herbert Benjamin Askea of Clarksville, Georgia February 5, 1932 at the Methodist Parsonage in Rock Island, IL.

She was employed at Mc Cleery Cummings as a tip-on operator, cleaned homes and was a babysitter at her home until 1995. Beulah and her husband where founding charter members of the Assembly of God Church in Washington. She enjoyed needlework, crocheting, bird watching, gardening and cooking for missionary’s, visiting pastors, family and friends.

Survivors include her daughter Barb Burrichter of Washington, granddaughter Sherri Burrichter of Fremont, Michigan; brother Harry McKune of Wayland; sisters, Hattie Nebel of Wayland, Helen Roth of Kalona, Dorothy Randolph of California and Joan Evans of Idaho.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, four sisters, Bessie Edwards, Opal McManis, Eva Woodul and Edna Gebelin; two brothers, John McKune Jr. and Rex McKune.
