Betty Lou Nelson

Betty Lou Nelson, 79 of Washington, died Saturday, April 29, 2023 at her home in Washington.

Her body has been cremated and private family graveside services will be held at the Elm Grove Cemetery in Washington. A general memorial has been established in her name.

Betty was born September 29, 1943 in Columbus City, Iowa the daughter of David Franklin and Carrie Mae (Hall) Wilson. She attended Columbus City Schools and was united in marriage to Charles J Nelson on March 19, 1961.

She was employed at Winga’s Café in Washington, Economart, Caseys and the Pit Stop in Columbus Junction, prior to retiring. She enjoyed gambling at the Casino, scratch off tickets,  shopping at Goodwill and the Lighthouse.

Survivors include her son Ricky (Brenda Knauber) Nelson of Columbus Junction, brother David Wilson of North Carolina and sister Mina Grover of California; four grandchildren, Jason, Kari, Luranda, and Tasha; special dog Molly.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brothers, Charles, Ed, Leroy and Raymond; sisters, Grace Sally and infant Lucille.
