Betty J. Flynn, 91, of Washington, passed from this life on Sunday, November 19, 2023, at the United Presbyterian Home in Washington. A funeral service will be held Saturday, November 25, 2023, at 10:30 AM at the Beatty Funeral Home in Washington with Andrew Zuehkle officiating. The service will be available via Livestream at the Beatty Peterseim website, YouTube and Facebook pages. Burial will follow at Elm Grove Cemetery in Washington. Visitation will be held Friday, November 24, from 1 – 7 PM at the funeral home, where the family will greet friends from 4 – 7 PM. A memorial fund has been established for the American Heart Association, Holden Comprehensive Cancer Center, Hospice of Washington County and the United Presbyterian Home.
Betty Jean (Bermel) Flynn was born January 31, 1932, in rural Washington County, the daughter of Lawrence and Edith (Smith) Bermel. She graduated from Keota High School. On September 18, 1954, she was united in marriage to Victor Flynn in Keota. She was an Avon representative and helped her husband farm and operate the Exporter Elevator Company in West Chester. Betty enjoyed traveling and having conversations with friends in her numerous coffee clubs.
Survivors include three children: Diane (Al) Havens of Tiffin, Kevin (Brenda) Flynn of Wellman, Vicki (Randy) Erwin of West Chester; six grandchildren: Matt (Brittany), Angela, Courtney (Matt), Megan (Jason), Dillon, Michelle (Dylan); nine great-grandchildren; and one sister Delores Loney of Iowa City.
Preceding Betty in death were her parents, her husband Vic in 1999, and her brother Don Bermel.
