Becky Charlesworth

A celebration of life for Becky Charlesworth, 69, of Wellman will be held Saturday, August 18, 2018 at 11:00 AM at the Peterseim Funeral Home in Kalona, with Pastor Teresa Stecker officiating. The family will greet friends at the funeral home from 9 – 11 AM. A memorial fund for the family's use has been established.

Becky Charlesworth died Sunday, August 12, 2018 at Parkview of Wellman. Becky (Doyle) Charlesworth was born January 4, 1949 in El Centro, California, the daughter of James Leroy and Dessa Flora (McDonald) Doyle. She graduated form Central Union High School and attended Imperial Valley College and San Diego State University. Becky worked as a switchboard operator and as a social worker for the State of Kansas and the State of California. In 1978 and 1979 she opened her heart and home to adopt Kathia and Charles. On December 23, 1983 she was united in marriage to Norman Charlesworth in Las Vegas, Nevada. Becky was a member of the Church of the Nazarene in Iowa City and the Red Hat Society. She enjoyed playing the piano and writing. While living at Parkview she wrote many news articles about folks living at Parkview. She will be remembered for the unconditional love she showed to all, especially her family.

Survivors include her daughter Kathia Downing of Iowa City, son Charles Nelson of Chowchilla, CA., grandson Noonie Nelson, her sister Karen Berg of Grinnell, IA., three nieces: Bridgett Berg, Bernadett Haman and Audrey (Jordan) Clark, and numerous great nieces and nephews.

Preceding Becky in death were her parents, her husband Norman in 1991 and an infant brother John Mark Doyle.
