Beatrice B. Bencke, 97, formally of Mt. Pleasant, died Tuesday, April 27, 2004 at Regency Nursing Home in Springfield, Illinois.
Funeral Services have been set for 10:00 A.M. Monday, May 3, 2003 at the Beatty Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant. Burial will be in the Forest Home Cemetery. Visitation will be Noon till 5:00 Sunday at the Funeral Home with family present from 2-4:00 P.M. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association in the name of Beatrice B. Bencke.
Born in Davis County, Iowa on April 12, 1907 the daughter of Elmer
Pugh and Joann (Josie) Mincks. She married Elmer W. Bencke October 8, 1927 in Swedesburg, Iowa. He preceded her in death in 1980.
She was a member of the Daughters of Union Veterans of the Civil War, the Farm Bureau, a former member of the Rebecca lodge and Ladies of the Moose.
She worked at the Mt. Pleasant State Hospital for several years. Later she and her husband farmed for several years before moving to town in 1965. She then was a cook for a nursing home and for a fraternity house.
She is survived by daughter, Madeline (Mrs. Albert Roy) of Springfield, IL, granddaughters Teresa (Mrs. David Szabo) of Springfield, IL and Debra (Mrs. Patrick Welch) of Champaign, IL and grandson John Roy (wife Tracy) of Rochester, IL, and five great granddaughters, 1 niece, 3 nephews and several grand nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brothers, Earl and Gilbert Pugh, and by sisters, Blanche Lenning and Elsie Moore.
