Arlene Jones, 98 of Washington, formally of the Ainsworth area, died Saturday, April 9, 2011 at the McCreedy Home following a short illness.
Funeral Services will be 10:00 AM Tuesday, April 12, 2011 at the Beatty Funeral Home in Washington with Pastor Dorothy Halverson officiating. Burial will be in the Cambrian Cemetery. Visitation will begin at Noon Monday at the Funeral Home with family receiving friends from 4-7:00 PM. A general memorial in the name of Arlene Jones has been established.
Arlene was born September 30, 1912 in Cotter, Iowa the daughter of Richard and Esther (Williams) Arthur. She graduated from Cotter High School in 1931 and was united in marriage to J. Darold Jones March 16, 1939 in Cotter.
She was a lifelong member of the Cotter Presbyterian Church, American Legion Auxiliary, Eastern Star and the Cotter Guild where she served as a past president. She was employed at the Post Office in Ainsworth and also worked at the Ainsworth 4 Corner Restaurant. She enjoyed writing letters, notes, cards and receiving mail.
Survivors include a son Allen Jones and wife Marlene of Ainsworth; two grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
