Anna M. (Miller) Peiffer, 86, of Kalona, died Monday, December 21, 2020, at Pleasantview in Kalona. A Celebration of Life will be held Wednesday, December 23, 2020, at 1:00 PM at the Kalona Mennonite Church. The service will be available via Livestream at the Beatty Peterseim Facebook page. Visitation will be held Tuesday, December 22, from 4 – 6 PM at the church. Social distancing guidelines will be in place. A memorial fund has been established for the Pleasantview Building Fund. Anna Mae Miller was born March 18, 1934, in Kalona, Iowa, the daughter of Paris L and Lydia (Briskey) Miller. She attended Prairie Dale rural school. She was united in marriage to Enos “Herb” Miller, the couple later divorced. On January 8, 1983, she was united in marriage to Charles “Chuck” Peiffer. Anna worked as a cashier at JW’s grocery store and at the Kalona Bakery and as a tour guide for the Kalona Historical Society. She was a member of the 1st Christian church in Washington. Anna enjoyed leading Bible studies, being outdoors in nature, spending time with her children and grandchildren, camping with the Peiffers’, and the extended Miller family gatherings.
Survivors include three children: Karen (Dean) Schrock of Kalona, Julie (Joe) Sojka of Tiffin and Terry Miller of Washington, seven step-children: Dan (Bunny) Peiffer of Harper, Tony Peiffer (Paul Davis) of Maui, Hawaii, Fred Peiffer of Kalona, Randy (Carla) Peiffer, Kevin Peiffer, and Pat Peiffer all of Washington, Judy (Rob) Wooldrik of Denver, CO, 22 grandchildren, 40 great-grandchildren, three sisters: Alma Hershberger, Sally (John) Hershberger, Marilyn (Derald) Bender all of Kalona, and two sisters-in-law: Ruby Miller of Kalona and Karen Miller of Iowa City.
Preceding Anna in death were her parents, her husband Chuck Peiffer, five brothers: Henry (Ella), Robert, Milton, Owen, and Charles “Chip” Miller, and one brother-in-law John D. Hershberger.
