A celebration of life for Anna Pearl (Reighard) Hughes, 40, of Kalona, will be held Wednesday, November 6, 2019, at 10:30 AM at Hillcrest Academy, 1421 540th Street SW, Kalona. Following a meal there will be a family burial at Sharon Hill Cemetery in Kalona. Visitation will be held Tuesday, November 5, 2019, from 4 – 7 PM at the Peterseim Funeral Home in Kalona. Anna Pearl Hughes died Thursday, October 31, 2019, at the University of Iowa Hospital.
Anna Pearl Hughes was born April 25, 1979 in Mt. Pleasant, Iowa, the daughter of Charles “Chuck” and Susan (Krieger) Reighard. She graduated from Columbus Community High School and earned a bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Iowa State University. On July 24, 1999 she was united in marriage to Noah Hughes in New London. Anna Pearl was a member of Veritas Church in Tiffin and was a dedicated wife and mom to her five children. She enjoyed dancing, laughing, graphic design, being with people and kids and loved hosting family and friends.
Survivors include her husband Noah and their five children all of Kalona: Ava, John, Esther, Charlie and Willa; her parents Chuck and Susan Reighard of New London; maternal grandmother Lucky Krieger; two brothers: Eric Reighard (Daoprakai Simang) of Mesa, AZ, Sam (Katie) Reighard of New London; father and mother-in-law Howard and Carol Hughes; six sisters-in-law, two brothers-in-law and many nieces and nephews.
Preceding Anna Pearl in death were her paternal grandparents: John and Esther Reighard and her maternal grandfather Bub Krieger.
A memorial fund has been established for Anna Pearl’s children’s education. Donations can be made online on Anna Pearl’s obituary page at peterseimfuneralhome.com.
